DigiLocker, the Government of India's digital document wallet platform under the Digital India initiative, has significantly expanded its utility services by onboarding 68 electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs) and power departments across the country.
The integration enables electricity consumers in 35 States and Union Territories to access their electricity bills directly through the DigiLocker platform. Users can now securely retrieve digitally authenticated bills issued by their respective electricity service providers without the need for physical documents, emails, or visits to utility offices.
The newly integrated ecosystem includes a mix of state-owned utilities, municipal electricity departments, and private power distribution companies serving millions of consumers nationwide. Major participating utilities include Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, BSES Rajdhani Power, BSES Yamuna Power, Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM), Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam, Noida Power Company Limited, and Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited, among others.
The move is expected to enhance convenience for consumers while promoting paperless access to essential utility documents through a secure and government-backed digital platform.
The onboarding of 68 power utilities marks a major milestone in DigiLocker’s ongoing efforts to build a comprehensive digital document ecosystem. By expanding the range of issuer-sourced credentials available on the platform, DigiLocker continues to simplify access to government and utility records while supporting broader digital transformation and service delivery initiatives across India.
