RBI extends restrictions on The Suri Friends’ Union Co-operative Bank

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has extended the regulatory restrictions imposed on The Suri Friends’ Union Co-operative Bank Ltd., Suri, West Bengal, for a further three months, from July 22, 2026, to October 22, 2026, subject to review.

The directions, issued under the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, were first imposed in July 2022 and have been extended periodically since then. According to the RBI, the extension has been made in the public interest.

The central bank clarified that the extension of these directions should not be interpreted as an indication that it is satisfied with the financial position of the bank. All other terms and conditions of the existing directive remain unchanged.
