The Ministry of Tourism has sanctioned 117 tourism infrastructure projects worth Rs 5,756.62 crore over the last two years to strengthen tourism infrastructure, improve basic amenities, and promote sustainable tourism across the country.

The projects have been approved under various central schemes, including Swadesh Darshan 2.0, Challenge-Based Destination Development, PRASHAD, Assistance to Central Agencies for Tourism Infrastructure Development, and Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA JUGA). Financial assistance has also been provided under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment – Development of Iconic Tourist Centres to Global Scale initiative.

To promote tourism, the Ministry has expanded its digital outreach through the revamped Incredible India Digital Platform, launched in September 2024. The multilingual platform serves as a one-stop portal for travel information and enables seamless booking of flights, hotels, cabs, buses, and ASI monument tickets. Promotional efforts are further supported through digital campaigns, social media, and collaborations with influencers.

The Ministry is also promoting cultural integration under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) initiative through programmes such as Bharat Parv, student exchange activities, cultural festivals, familiarisation tours, and regional cuisine events organised by its autonomous institutions.

To enhance international tourist arrivals, the Government continues to promote India in key overseas markets through roadshows, trade events, media campaigns, and participation in global tourism fairs. It has also simplified travel through the e-Visa facility, now available to nationals of 174 countries across nine visa categories, while providing a 24x7 multilingual tourist helpline and strengthening tourist guide services through the Incredible India Tourist Facilitator Certification (IITFC) programme.

The Ministry is also focusing on niche tourism segments, including spiritual, eco, adventure, rural, tribal, wellness, medical, MICE, wedding, and heritage tourism, supported by dedicated national strategies, the "Meet in India" campaign for MICE tourism, the "India Says I Do" initiative for destination weddings, and a Model Adventure Tourism Safety Framework to promote safe and sustainable tourism.
