RBI revises deposit interest rate norms for Banks

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued the final Amendment Directions on Interest Rates on Deposits after incorporating stakeholder feedback on the draft proposals released in June 2026.

The revised norms provide greater flexibility to banks in pricing rupee bulk deposits while ensuring uniform disclosure of deposit interest rates across regulated entities.

The amendment directions will come into effect from October 1, 2026, and apply to commercial banks, small finance banks, regional rural banks, payments banks, local area banks, and urban co-operative banks.
