RBI announces SGB Premature Redemption Price at Rs 14,957 per Unit

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced the premature redemption price for Sovereign Gold Bond (SGB) 2019-20 Series IX and SGB 2020-21 Series V, which is due on August 11, 2026.

As per the Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme, premature redemption is permitted after five years from the date of issue, on the interest payment date. Accordingly, eligible investors can opt for premature redemption of these two SGB tranches on August 11.

The redemption price has been fixed at Rs 14,957 per unit of SGB, based on the simple average of the closing price of 999-purity gold for the previous three business days — August 6, August 7 and August 10, 2026 — as published by the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA).
