Govt expands citizen-centric digital services through UMANG and DigiLocker

The Government of India is expanding digital public service delivery through platforms such as UMANG and DigiLocker under the Digital India programme, aimed at improving access to government services and empowering citizens.

As of July 31, 2026, around 2,575 services, including 880 Central Government and 1,695 State Government services, were available on UMANG. DigiLocker offered access to 5,437 document types and services, comprising 661 Central Government and 4,776 State Government offerings.

UMANG has more than 11.66 crore registered users and recorded around 798 crore transactions over the past three years. DigiLocker has over 72.43 crore registered users and recorded approximately 72.86 crore document access transactions during the same period.

To improve digital access in rural and remote areas, the government has also expanded the Common Service Centre (CSC) network. As of June 30, 2026, around 4,07,122 CSCs were operational at the Gram Panchayat level, including 70,069 centres operated by women Village Level Entrepreneurs.

UMANG and DigiLocker are available through mobile applications and web portals and are integrated with key Digital Public Infrastructure components such as Aadhaar, eSign and API Setu, enabling secure and paperless access to services and digital documents.

The government is also promoting digital literacy through initiatives such as PMGDISHA, while expanding multilingual and accessible services. Government departments and state governments continue to onboard additional services and digital documents on the two platforms to further strengthen seamless, citizen-centric digital service delivery.
