RBI announces Rs 15,310 Redemption Price for SGB 2019-20 Series III

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced the premature redemption price for Sovereign Gold Bond (SGB) 2019-20 Series III at Rs 15,310 per unit, with the redemption due on August 14, 2026.

As per the Government of India’s Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme, premature redemption is permitted after completion of the fifth year from the date of issue, on the interest payment date. The SGB 2019-20 Series III was issued on August 14, 2019, making August 14, 2026, the eligible date for premature redemption.

The redemption price is determined based on the simple average of the closing price of 999-purity gold for the three preceding business days, as published by the India Bullion and Jewellers Association Ltd (IBJA).

Accordingly, the redemption price of Rs 15,310 per SGB unit has been calculated using the average closing gold prices for August 11, 12 and 13, 2026.
