SGB 2020-21 Series VI premature redemption price set at Rs 15,384 per unit

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced the premature redemption price for the Sovereign Gold Bond (SGB) 2020-21 Series VI, issued on September 8, 2020, at Rs 15,384 per unit.

Premature redemption is permitted after the completion of five years from the date of issue, on the interest payment date. Accordingly, the next premature redemption date for this tranche is September 8, 2026.

The redemption price is determined based on the simple average of the closing price of 999-purity gold for the preceding three business days, as published by the India Bullion and Jewellers Association Ltd (IBJA). For the September 8 redemption, the calculation is based on gold prices for September 3, 4 and 7, 2026.
