MoD inks Rs 661.50 cr contract with BrahMos Aerospace for Navy Fire Control Systems and Launchers

The Ministry of Defence has signed a Rs 661.50 crore contract with BrahMos Aerospace Pvt Ltd (BAPL) for the procurement of BrahMos Fire Control Systems and Launchers for Indian Navy ships.

The contract, signed on October 6, 2026, falls under the Buy (Indian-IDDM) procurement category and aims to strengthen the Indian Navy’s maritime strike capabilities while advancing the indigenisation of critical defence technologies.

The project features a minimum 68% indigenous content and is expected to encourage greater participation from Indian industries, including MSMEs, while generating employment over the next three years.

The BrahMos system, deployed on various frontline Indian Navy warships, serves as the Navy’s primary surface-to-surface missile system for maritime strike operations. It is capable of engaging land and sea-based targets at extended ranges with high precision at supersonic speeds.

The Ministry said the contract will further bolster India’s maritime security and defence capabilities and support the country’s efforts towards self-reliance in advanced military technology.
