L&T Energy CarbonLite Solutions has received a Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) from DVC CIL Power Private Ltd (DVCCIL) for the main plant package of the 2x800 MW Chandrapura Thermal Power Plant in Jharkhand.
DVCCIL, a joint venture between Damodar Valley Corporation and Coal India Ltd, will issue the formal Notice to Proceed after the project obtains the required environmental clearances and the LNTP period is completed.
The project will feature two 800 MW ultra-supercritical power generation units, with L&T responsible for the design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of boilers, steam turbines, generators and electrostatic precipitators, along with associated mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and civil works.
The adoption of ultra-supercritical technology is expected to enhance thermal efficiency and reduce specific emissions, supporting more efficient and reliable power generation.
The 1,600 MW Chandrapura project is expected to contribute to India’s expanding power-generation capacity and cater to rising electricity demand driven by industrial growth and economic development.
L&T said the project further strengthens its association with major public-sector power utilities and reinforces its presence in India’s thermal power sector.
