Sensex, Nifty flat; UltraTech, M&M top gainers

Indian benchmarks continued to trade flat duirng the morning deals amid volatility. Selling pressure was witnessed in select heavyweights, including IT and bank players TCS, Infosys, Axis Bank, SBI and Yes Bank.

Among individuals, shares of Aurobindo Pharma added nearly 5 percent in early trade on October 9 even after the company received seven observations from USFDA.

Shares of Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) fell for the third consecutive session on October 9, losing more than 1 percent after Centrum Broking downgraded its rating on the stock to reduce.

At 10:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 37556.54 up by 24.56 points or by 0.07 % and then NSE Nifty was at 11137 up by 10.6 points or by 0.1 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 37663.12 and intraday low of 37415.83 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11159.15 and intraday low of 11090.15

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 564.65,+2.18%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1420.10,+1.63%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 117.35,+1.34%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1575.70,+1.26%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 1742.00,+1.13%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 42.15,-7.57%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1043.05,-2.90%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 2631.35,-1.62%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2023.95,-1.41%), State Bank of India (Rs. 246.15,-1.14%), among others.

Among the sectors, CGS index was at 17944.3 up by 199.41 points or by 1.12%. Siemens Ltd. (Rs. 1550.50,+1.97%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1420.10,+1.63%), Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (Rs. 699.30,+1.14%), NBCC (India) Ltd. (Rs. 32.85,+1.08%), SKF India Ltd. (Rs. 2123.85,+1.00%),.

Power index was at 1899.19 up by 14.16 points or by 0.75%. JSW Energy Ltd. (Rs. 61.60,+2.50%), Siemens Ltd. (Rs. 1550.50,+1.97%), Torrent Power Ltd. (Rs. 280.95,+1.52%), Tata Power Company Ltd. (Rs. 59.10,+1.37%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 117.35,+1.34%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2044 , shares advanced were 806 while 1095 shares declined and 143 were unchanged.
