Markets in red; Tech Mahindra, YES Bank top drags

Amid volatile trading, Indian benchmarks continued to trade in red during the late noon trading session. Among sectors, selling seen in the pharma, bank, FMCG and auto, while buying seen in the metal, infra and energy stocks.

Meanwhile, Oil prices rose more than 1% on Monday as signs of rising manufacturing activity in China pointed to increasing fuel demand, and hints that OPEC may deepen output cuts at its meeting this week indicated supply may tighten next year.

At 14:42 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 40788.4 down by -5.41 points or by -0.01 % and then NSE Nifty was at 12046.15 down by -9.9 points or by -0.08 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 41093.99 and intraday low of 40707.63 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 12137.15 and intraday low of 12025

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 462.60,+4.59%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1585.55,+2.23%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 1729.20,+1.48%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 534.90,+0.92%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1627.80,+0.83%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 64.70,-5.27%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 128.00,-2.85%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 3967.00,-2.61%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 440.00,-2.18%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 747.95,-1.78%), among others.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2808 , shares advanced were 1082 while 1507 shares declined and 219 were unchanged.
