Mid-Session: Sensex marginally higher; Nifty below 11,900

Indian benchmarks were trading marginally higher during the noon trading session backed by gains in select private bank, financial and metal stocks amid easing global crude prices. However, some selling was witnessed in stocks including Yes Bank, Hero Moto Corp, LT, Power Grid and Bharti Airtel among others.

At 12:35 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 40282.46 up by 42.58 points or by 0.11 % and then NSE Nifty was at 11860.55 up by 3.75 points or by 0.03 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 40423.14 and intraday low of 40135.37 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11907.3 and intraday low of 11854.1

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 111.90,+1.77%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 1736.50,+1.35%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 754.55,+1.25%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 4034.50,+1.18%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 238.10,+1.15%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 43.35,-14.24%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 2280.75,-2.13%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 180.60,-1.18%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1264.15,-1.17%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2009.70,-0.76%), among others.

Among the sectors, Realty index was at 2143.56 up by 14.87 points or by 0.7%. Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 904.95,+2.44%), Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 765.00,+1.59%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 219.70,+1.31%), Sunteck Realty Ltd. (Rs. 394.80,+0.83%), Sobha Ltd. (Rs. 390.60,+0.09%),.

CGS index was at 16526.67 down by -168.86 points or by -1.01%. Sadbhav Engineering Ltd. (Rs. 117.95,-3.91%), Elgi Equipments Ltd. (Rs. 248.00,-3.54%), Havells India Ltd. (Rs. 633.75,-2.19%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 43.85,-1.90%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 97.85,-1.86%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2497 , shares advanced were 915 while 1372 shares declined and 210 were unchanged.
