Sensex in the red; PSU banks under pressure

Indian benchmark indices continued to trade lower during the late noon trading session amid selling in power and PSU stocks.

Shares of Future Retail inched up by a percent on February 14, a day after the company released a subdued set of numbers for the December quarter of the financial year 2020.

At 14:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 41281.69 down by -178.1 points or by -0.43 % and then NSE Nifty was at 12133.9 down by -40.75 points or by -0.33 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 41702.36 and intraday low of 41183.13 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 12246.7 and intraday low of 12097.9

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 563.25,+4.34%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 621.25,+1.40%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1489.05,+1.02%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 546.35,+0.99%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 3160.05,+0.78%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1188.00,-3.43%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 184.95,-2.84%), State Bank of India (Rs. 320.80,-2.03%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 112.80,-2.00%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1219.05,-1.78%), among others.

Among the sectors, BSE_CDS index was at 27036.74 up by 72.25 points or by 0.27%. Blue Star Ltd. (Rs. 833.15,+4.01%), Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 283.20,+1.80%), VIP Industries Ltd. (Rs. 471.00,+0.73%), Voltas Ltd. (Rs. 689.70,+0.58%), TTK Prestige Ltd. (Rs. 5900.00,+0.27%),.

Power index was at 1855.35 down by -40.24 points or by -2.12%. Reliance Infrastructure Ltd. (Rs. 19.80,-5.04%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 184.95,-2.84%), Adani Transmission Ltd. (Rs. 329.85,-2.76%), ABB India Ltd. (Rs. 1238.05,-2.47%), Tata Power Company Ltd. (Rs. 54.00,-2.26%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2815 , shares advanced were 1031 while 1598 shares declined and 186 were unchanged.
