Post-Session: Sensex ends in red ahead of PM's address

The domestic stock market ended Tuesday's volatile session on a flat note with negative bias, thus trimming all their morning gains ahead of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address to the nation scheduled at 4 PM today.

The Government on Monday issued guidelines for “unlock 2.0”, but the rapid increase in Covid-19 cases in several parts of the country meant it stopped short of reopening schools, colleges, and coaching institutions.

The 30-share benchmark index ended at 34915.8 down by -45.72 points or by -0.13 % and then NSE Nifty was at 10302.1 down by -10.3 points or by -0.1 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 35233.91 and intraday low of 34812.8 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 10401.05 and intraday low of 10267.35

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 5839.10,+2.77%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 17160.00,+2.63%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 351.45,+2.42%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 3888.60,+2.11%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 2548.35,+1.73%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 174.55,-2.08%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 473.60,-1.70%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 194.60,-1.32%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 81.40,-1.21%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 560.60,-1.17%), among others.

Among the sectors, Auto index was at 15275.21 up by 159.29 points or by 1.05%. Bosch Ltd. (Rs. 11414.00,+4.19%), MRF Ltd. (Rs. 67039.20,+2.83%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 5839.10,+2.77%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 2548.35,+1.73%), Balkrishna Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1260.80,+1.27%),.

Oil&Gas index was at 12668.18 down by -194.71 points or by -1.51%. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 216.40,-3.91%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 374.15,-2.45%), Petronet LNG Ltd. (Rs. 258.10,-1.81%), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 101.75,-1.74%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 85.80,-1.44%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3154 , shares advanced were 1431 while 1558 shares declined and 165 were unchanged.
