Domestic bourses are expected to start the day in red on Wednesday amid mixed trend in the Asian markets with investors awaiting the Federal Reserve's view on the economy at the end of its policy meeting later today.
Market participants will eye these global cues but are likely to primarily focus on individual stocks. They will also track RBI Governor's address to Ficci members today at 11 AM. Besides, Covid-19 trends, and newsflow on the India-China front will be keenly monitored.
Besides, the new margin penalty system will be implemented from today according to which stock brokers will have to collect margins from investors upfront for any purchase of sale of shares and failure to do so will attract penalty.
On Tuesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 39044.35 up by 287.72 points or by 0.74 % and then NSE Nifty was at 11521.8 up by 81.75 points or by 0.71 %.
On the global front, U.S. stocks rose on Tuesday as investors hoped the Federal Reserve would stick with its supportive policy stance as the central bank’s two-day meeting got under way.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 2.27 points, or 0.01%, to 27,995.6, the S&P 500 gained 17.66 points, or 0.52%, to 3,401.2 and the Nasdaq Composite added 133.67 points, or 1.21%, to 11,190.32.
Asian shares were mixed on Wednesday as investors awaited the Federal Reserve’s view on the economy at the end of its policy meeting, although upbeat Chinese and U.S. economic data is likely to give sentiment a tailwind.
Australian S&P/ASX 200 futures rose 0.75% in early trading. Japan’s Nikkei 225 futures slid 0.13%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index futures rose 0.33%.
