Indices trade green; autos outshine, IT drags

The Indian markets were trading flat with a positive bias, tracking mixed cues from their Asian peers.

Aurobindo Pharma rose 4 per cent in early deals after the company announced its collaboration with Council of Scientific and Industrial Research to develop vaccines to protect against Covid-19.

Bharti Airtel share price gained a percent while that of Sterlite Technologies jumped over 4 percent after the telecom major selected Sterlite Technologies to build modern optical fibre network across 10 telecom circles. The new optical network will enable Airtel to deliver world-class customer experience through enhanced scalability, reduced latency, and improved bandwidth, claimed the companies.

At 9:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 39117.36 up by 73.01 points or by 0.19 % and then NSE Nifty was at 11538.15 up by 16.35 points or by 0.14 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 39161.4 and intraday low of 39037.96 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11546.55 and intraday low of 11516.75

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 641.45,+4.54%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 3026.40,+2.91%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 6203.50,+1.42%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 7135.90,+1.20%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 3539.75,+0.72%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 782.50,-1.25%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 444.80,-1.08%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 630.00,-0.55%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 369.45,-0.54%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 172.55,-0.38%), among others.

Among the sectors, Auto index was at 18516.53 up by 356.39 points or by 1.96%. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 641.45,+4.54%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 3022.35,+2.77%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 152.10,+2.56%), Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd. (Rs. 123.20,+1.90%), TVS Motor Company Ltd. (Rs. 463.75,+1.83%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2033 , shares advanced were 1163 while 753 shares declined and 117 were unchanged.
