Sensex, Nifty surge higher; M&M to gainer

Domestic bourses were trading higher during the morning deals ahead of the US Federal Reserve's policy outcome.

Exchange data showed that foreign institutional investors bought equities worth Rs 1,170.89 crore on a net basis on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the rupee witnessed high volatility against the US dollar in opening trade on Wednesday ahead of the US Federal Reserve's policy decision.

At 10:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 39187.09 up by 142.74 points or by 0.37 % and then NSE Nifty was at 11556.65 up by 34.85 points or by 0.3 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 39217.02 and intraday low of 39037.96 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11570.35 and intraday low of 11516.75

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 642.40,+4.69%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 3019.30,+2.66%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2354.80,+1.59%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 3972.20,+1.04%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 6180.00,+1.03%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 624.00,-1.50%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 444.50,-1.15%), State Bank of India (Rs. 198.10,-1.02%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 73.00,-1.02%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 1998.30,-0.92%), among others.

Among the sectors, Auto index was at 18451.47 up by 291.33 points or by 1.6%. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 642.40,+4.69%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 3019.30,+2.66%), Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd. (Rs. 124.00,+2.56%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 151.55,+2.19%), TVS Motor Company Ltd. (Rs. 464.20,+1.93%),.

PSU index was at 4909.04 down by -19.63 points or by -0.4%. Engineers India Ltd. (Rs. 67.80,-2.59%), UCO Bank (Rs. 13.66,-1.23%), Balmer Lawrie & Company Ltd. (Rs. 118.85,-1.16%), ITI Ltd. (Rs. 129.40,-1.07%), Container Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 385.10,-0.98%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2436 , shares advanced were 1254 while 1041 shares declined and 141 were unchanged.
