Markets trade higher; Metal stocks shine

Equity benchmark Sensex continued to trade higher on Thursday, tracking gains in index heavyweights HDFC twins, ICICI Bank and Infosys amid a positive trend in global markets.

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net buyers in the capital market as they purchased shares worth Rs 227.42 crore on Wednesday, as per exchange data.

At 10:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 50053.87 up by 392.11 points or by 0.79 % and then NSE Nifty was at 14949.4 up by 130.35 points or by 0.88 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 50118.08 and intraday low of 49832.35 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 14959.25 and intraday low of 14864.55

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1046.15,+4.30%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 1545.20,+2.06%), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 2527.65,+1.85%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3330.55,+1.83%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 9689.65,+1.58%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 3675.00,-0.31%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1999.00,-0.19%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 5070.75,-0.12%), among others.

Among the sectors, CDS index was at 32895.86 up by 636.91 points or by 1.97%. Rajesh Exports Ltd. (Rs. 513.70,+7.00%), Dixon Technologies (India) Ltd. (Rs. 3760.00,+3.64%), Amber Enterprises India Ltd. (Rs. 3273.60,+2.33%), Bajaj Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 1041.20,+2.10%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 1545.20,+2.06%),.

Power index was at 2528.11 down by -12.25 points or by -0.48%. Adani Transmission Ltd. (Rs. 1002.15,-5.00%), Thermax Ltd. (Rs. 1372.70,-2.14%), Adani Green Energy Ltd. (Rs. 1170.85,-2.00%), Adani Power Ltd. (Rs. 98.70,-1.25%), KEC International Ltd. (Rs. 430.25,-0.65%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2766 , shares advanced were 1918 while 690 shares declined and 158 were unchanged.
