Mid-Session: Indices trade higher higher; Aug core WPI inflation at 11.2%

Indian benchmark indices continued to trade higher during the noon trading session supported by buying in index heavyweights including IndusInd Bank Ltd.,HCL Technologies Ltd. , Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. , Axis Bank Ltd, Bajaj Auto Ltd among others.

Meanwhile, August WPI inflation came in at 11.39% against 11.16% (MoM) while August core WPI inflation at 11.2% against 10.8% (MoM). Manufactured products inflation at 11.4% against 11.2% (MoM). Primary articles inflation at 6.2% against 5.7% (MoM).

At 12:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 58368.81 up by 191.05 points or by 0.33 % and then NSE Nifty was at 17420.15 up by 64.85 points or by 0.37 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 58482.62 and intraday low of 58310.27 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 17438.55 and intraday low of 17389.1

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1022.20,+2.64%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1232.55,+2.07%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1869.25,+1.77%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 798.20,+1.37%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 3749.40,+1.36%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 7869.15,-0.82%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2773.35,-0.41%), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 2837.80,-0.35%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1550.25,-0.33%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1458.75,-0.30%), among others.

Auto index was at 22932.54 up by 222.67 points or by 0.98%. Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd. (Rs. 221.15,+3.80%), Escorts Ltd. (Rs. 1420.00,+3.03%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 2850.10,+2.14%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 3749.40,+1.36%), Eicher Motors Ltd. (Rs. 2837.00,+1.15%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3439 , shares advanced were 2025 while 1223 shares declined and 191 were unchanged.
