Equity benchmark Sensex rallied over 300 points in opening trade to hit a fresh lifetime high on Wednesday, tracking gains in index heavyweights ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and M&M despite a weak trend in global markets.
Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital market as they offloaded shares worth Rs 278.32 crore on Tuesday, as per exchange data.
At 9:53 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 60600.87 up by 316.56 points or by 0.53 % and then NSE Nifty was at 18089.35 up by 97.4 points or by 0.54 %.
Sensex touched intraday high of 60649.32 and intraday low of 60452.29 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 18099.15 and intraday low of 18050.75
